The 2017 Norse Goddesses – Frigg 2oz Silver Coin honours the powerful queen of Asgard and one of the most revered figures in Norse mythology. Frigg was the goddess of love, marriage, destiny, the sky, and weaving — believed to weave both the clouds and the threads of fate that determined the lives of gods and men.

Also associated with fertility, motherhood, and domestic arts, Frigg was considered the protector of women in childbirth and a guiding presence for those transitioning to the afterlife.

Struck by the renowned Perth Mint from 2oz of 99.9% pure silver, this coin is issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu. The design is presented in high relief on a rimless flan and individually antiqued to create the appearance of an ancient artefact. Due to this specialised treatment, each coin exhibits unique surface characteristics.

The reverse depicts Frigg seated upon Odin’s high seat, cradling a newborn baby while holding a rose quartz pendant. Surrounding elements include a falcon, white candles, and woven threads — powerful symbols of fate and protection. The design also bears the inscription “FRIGG” and The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark.

The obverse features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, along with the 2017 year-date and $2 denomination.
